Ryôzen Gokoku jinja, or Ryôzen Protection of the Nation Shrine, is a Shinto shrine on Mt. Ryôzen in the eastern hills of Kyoto. It was established in June 1868 by the Dajôkan (Grand Council of State) to serve as a sanctuary for the spirits of those who died in battle in service to the nation, especially those who died in the Boshin War.
It quickly came to be overshadowed by Yasukuni Shrine, established the following year in Tokyo.
