Kankai ibun was a report compiled by Ôtsuki Gentaku and Shimura Hiroyuki in 1807, based on interviews they performed with a group of castaways originally from Sendai.

While the group, headed by a man named Tsudayû, did not provide information quite as extensive or reliable about Russia as another castaway, Daikokuya Kôdayû, had a decade earlier, their travels included a much broader range of places. After being rescued from their shipwreck, Tsudayû and his companions had been taken across the Atlantic, through the Straits of Magellan (south of South America), and to Hawaii before being brought back to Japan.
