The Hokuriku is the middle section of Japan's Japan Sea coast. It consisted of the seven provinces of [[Wakasa province|Wakasa]], [[Echizen province|Echizen]], [[Kaga province|Kaga]], [[Noto province|Noto]], [[Etchu province|Etchû]], [[Echigo province|Echigo]], and [[Sado province|Sado Island]].
The modern Hokuriku region (Hokuriku Chihô) covers the same area and consists of the four prefectures of Fukui, Ishikawa, Toyama, and Niigata.
