Kyûzô was a son of [[Sakai Masahisa]] and served [[Oda Nobunaga]]. Despite his youth, he was active in the battles against the [[Rokkaku clan|Rokkaku]] of [[Omi province|Ômi province]] during Nobunaga's march to Kyoto in [[1568]], participating in the capturing of Mitsukuri, Wadayama, and Kannoji. He was in the advance guard of the Oda army at the [[Battle of Anegawa]] in 1570 and there fell in fierce fighting with troops under [[Asai clan|Asai]] retainer [[Isono Kazumasa]].
