Yoshida was the 34th post-station along the Tôkaidô highway. In 1843, the surrounding town consisted of almost 1,300 homes, as well as two honjin, one waki-honjin, and 65 hatagoya inns.

The post-station was within the territory of Mikawa Yoshida han.
