This article seems to contain primarily analysis, and very little straightforward description or fact. In order to get the most out of this article as it stands, the reader would need to already be quite familiar with who Kuranosuke was, and with the story of the episode of the 47 Ronin... when in fact, the purpose of this article should be to provide that understanding to the reader.

So, who was Ôishi Kuranosuke? Rather than starting with talking about how he comes off better or worse than Asano Naganori, the article needs to start with "Kuranosuke was... the leader of the 47 Ronin" or "Kuranosuke was one of the 47 Ronin" or whatever is most accurate and informative. This was gleaned from our 47 Ronin Discussion group (where everyone DID know who Kuranosuke was and the story of the Ronin), and it was always the intention to add more straightforward biographical information to the article-but time and other commitments being what they are, it hasn't happened. Feel free to add any biographical detail as you see fit. User:Tatsunoshi
