[[Tokugawa Ieyasu]] stayed there for a time during his childhood; [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi]] stayed there on the eve of the [[Siege of Odawara|siege of Odawara castle]], as did his tea master [[Sen no Rikyu|Sen no Rikyû]].
