A small work by Hakugen, on display at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum
  • Other Names: 新崎新太郎 (Arasaki Shintarou)
  • Japanese: 白玄 (Hakugen)

Hakugen, also known as Arasaki Shintarô, was a 20th century Okinawan painter and calligrapher. He began studying calligraphy and painting on his own (without a master/teacher) in his 50s, and had a number of his pieces shown in the Okiten.

He never took disciples.
