- Hosokawa Takakuni drives Shogun Ashikaga Yoshitane out of Kyoto; he travels as an exile to Awaji Island.
- The Hosokawa clan sends a tally trade mission to China, consisting of one ship. It arrives three years later, at the same time as an Ôuchi clan mission, sparking the 1523 Ningbo Incident.
- Jinbo Yoshimune attacks Nagao Tamekage at Shinjô castle and is defeated.
- Nagao Tamekage attacks Etchû province and defeats the Shiina clan.
