- Japanese: 磯御殿 (Iso goten)
The Iso Palace was a Shimazu clan villa in Kagoshima, which today stands as part of the Shôkoshûseikan complex.
Originally constructed as a secondary villa (bettei), it was used for the personal leisure of the daimyô, and for entertaining guests, including officials from Ryûkyû Kingdom. Following the Meiji Restoration, the Iso Palace became the chief Kagoshima residence of the Shimazu. Most of the compound was renovated in 1884, and about a third of it survives today.
